God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Sun and moon and day and night and man and beast
each with a splendor
which man in all his vileness cannot
set aside; each with an excellence!

-- Marianne Moore, The Pangolin

Today things seem better. After my Tenth Step and attitude adjustment yesterday morning, I dressed and wore something besides my usual button-down and khakis uniform. I actually fit into a pair of my 32" waist pants again. Thank goodness for the Diet Dr. Pepper diet and Granny farmhand workout.

I went to work and finished all I could of the March 052300 AR Clearing Account recon before our conference call with the guy in India about fixed assets. The call went well. We did what we needed to do for him to complete the quarterly fixed assets recon since that is a hot issue right now at GE, or at least our site. Then we went over who needs to do what and when in order to keep fixed assets and depreciation accurate. As we make the transition from manual- to system-fed entries, the accounts will need to be closely monitored but hopefully everyone is on board now. I'm glad that Doug and Lisa were there with me as they are much more diplomatic than I am. When I get something stuck in my craw, I have a difficult time letting it go.

I came home from work and changed. I watered the flowers and did a little busywork before Dan came over to drop off my cleaning stuff and say our goodbyes. I'm excited for him now. I just hope he's careful on the drive to DC since he's been working so hard and is very tired.

I watched most of The West Wing and then sat down to play Civilization III. A few months ago, I would obsess about that game and spend hours playing. Now, I tire of it very quickly.

Tucker from Amarillo called at about ten o'clock. We had a nice chat although we didn't have a lot new to talk about since we've been emailing back and forth every day. He still holds a place in my heart, but I don't feel quite as disturbed about him anymore. It may just be that this week I've been more irritable and discontent than usual and am not thinking of anyone beyond myself. Imagine that!

Anyway, this morning begins a new month. The sun is shining, work doesn't seem as oppressive, my paycheck is in the bank, and the weekend is coming soon. For what more could one ask?
