God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Peace does not appear so distant as it did. I hope it will come soon, and come to stay; and so come as to be worth the keeping in all future time. -- Abraham Lincoln, Letter to James C. Conkling, August 26, 1863

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I felt okay all day. I went to the doctor yesterday morning for my regular three-month checkup where they had me sign all new HIPAA forms, drew lots of blood, and gave me my Hepatitis A vaccine booster shot. The best part was learning that I had lost almost twenty pounds since the end of January. At 178 pounds (per his scales), I am right at where I should be health-wise. I felt like I had trimmed down and people have commented some, but I had no idea that I had lost that much weight. Thanks again to the Diet Dr. Pepper diet and the Granny farmhand workout. Now, I can concentrate on putting on some muscle.

I left the doctor's office in time to attend the funeral of King Solomon who passed away this weekend. He was a member of our Lambda AA group and worked as a public defender in the criminal courts. I was heartened to see the overflowing crowd of people there to pay their respects albeit was an odd mix of gay and lesbian alcoholics and uptight, nattily dressed attorneys and judges. King was a character and a very warm, loving, and wise man who gave much to many of us. He will be sorely missed particularly by those of us at Lambda.

I dropped Claire off at the DART station, drove through the bank ATM, picked up some lunch at Whataburger, and then went to work. I sent Doug an email asking that we finalize what I need to do to complete my project as the auditors are no longer coming. We'll discuss that today.

After completing a purchase order matching project for Doug, I spent the rest of the afternoon reading news on the Internet and looking up information about affordable housing design and architecture in which I have an unexplainable, recurring interest. While reading about the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, this obsession revisited me about living and studying there.

Last year, I spent much time researching and fantasizing about enrolling in the Master of Science in Cities, Space and Society programme at the London School of Economics. Yesterday, I already had myself moved to and living in a one-bedroom flat or studio in Fitzrovia or Covent Garden. Although my family travelled to Europe when I was younger, I've never been to London, but for some reason I can definitely see myself living there. Don't know what that's all about, but we'll see.

Last night, I took it easy, ate dinner, pulled some weeds, watched TV, and read a little more of my book. David Sedaris is hilarious. Sick, but hilarious.

Anyway, since yesterday, I've felt totally at ease. It's almost as if my whole life began anew yesterday. I don't understand that, but I won't question blessings. A big thanks to Judy in Malaysia and Blaise in Britain for their kind words and thoughts during my recent malaise. I appreciate them very much.
