God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Two possibilities: making oneself infinitely small or being so. The second is perfection, that is to say, inactivity, the first is beginning, that is to say, action. -- Franz Kafka, The Third Notebook, January 28, 1918

What a day yesterday! At work, I finished categorizing the Fixed Assets to be tagged, and Bill the Investment Coordinator came over with the sequential tags he had found and was ready to begin. I finished copying all the 2002 appropriation requests to send to Sriram in India, and I finished drafting the PO-matching procedures. I also asked Doug, the Finance Manager to whom I report, if he would be willing to write one of the letters of recommendation for the UTD application, and he said that he would if I would draft one for him. Laura from Accountemps called and talked to Doug and let him know that Reagan from Essilor had called and requested me for a project, so they decided that next week would finally be my last week at GE.

I went to the six-o'clock AA meeting which was chaired by Tim on giving without strings attached. Afterwards, we had our monthly business meeting at which I nominated Nathan for Secretary, and he won. Girl Michael was elected as the new head drunk and chaired the rest of the meeting which included an inane debate on the soft drink vending machine and its vendor. Afterwards, I came home and finished washing some dishes and put some hot dogs on the stove. I called my new sponsor Charlie, and set up lunch for Friday.

When I listened to my messages, I heard that a woman from Resources Connection had called with an opportunity and wanted to know my availability. What timing! I immediately called my old sponsor Michael who previously managed most of the Texas offices of Resources Connection for several years and asked him about their program, compensation, and benefits. My biggest concern is about health insurance as my meds can cost at least about $1,200 per month when I pay for them myself. I do not want to go back to doing that again.

Later, my old sponsor and friend Dan called from DC with his new cell phone number. We talked for about an hour. I told him about Tucker and about the job possibilities. I also asked him if he would write one of the letters of recommendation for the UTD graduate school application, and he agreed. He seems to be doing well up there, and he's busy as ever. It was so good to hear his laugh again.

Finally, I called my dad to tell him about the job possibilities and to ask if he would be willing to help me out financially should there be a gap in paychecks between Accountemps and Resources Connection. That's if I even switch. He said that he would and gave me several good things to consider in making the switch.

By that time, I was pooped but excited about all the new possibilities opening up. Thank you God.
