God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

The share we have in the knowledge of truth, such as it is, has not been acquired by our own powers. God has taught us ... his wonderful secrets; our faith is not of our acquiring, it is purely the gift of another's bounty. -- Michel de Montaigne, Apology for Raimund Sebond

I have to laugh. On Monday evening, I acted in typical alcoholic fashion. During that day, I had received two requests for my professional services. A handsome stranger was due to fly in the following day. I acted as if the ship of bounty I had always expected was sailing toward my harbor. The committee in my head was definitely in overdrive that night.

Yesterday, it all came to a screeching halt. The ship of bounty did not sink, but it is certainly not moored in my harbor. The position at Essilor had to be filled immediately as did the other position. I didn't hear from the Resources Connection woman until the end of the day yesterday, and I never heard again from Jean-Paul, the handsome stranger from Atlanta.

But everything's okay. Laura at Accountemps is working on increasing my bill rate for my next project, and I am going to send my resume to Meredith at Resources Connection this morning for future opportunities. My brother at Smith Barney sent me some good and interesting information on both companies and their financial conditions. Plus, I just now received an email from Jean-Paul asking if he could come in on Sunday evening and Monday.

We were very slow at work because all but Adeline were either on vacation or away on business. I did some research for Doug on different Fixed Asset matters.

Later, I stopped by the 7-Eleven, came home, made some Frito pie, watched the Gilmore Girls finale, read, and went to bed early.

Onward and upward.
