God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
Ah, Sunday. It was so nice yesterday to know that I didn't have to go to work the next day. I don't think I should have drank a whole pot of coffee because I felt somewhat anxious all day.
Perhaps I was anxious because my day was full and because I knew that I would be having an out-of-town guest staying with me that evening. I've lived here for six and a half years, and I can't remember anyone staying with me other than a trick I met online.
I did some housecleaning before I went to Angie and Naomi's house for their pool party. I was somewhat anxious about that for some reason, too, but I enjoyed getting to spend almost three hours talking with my friend David from Atlanta. Rain threatened most of the afternoon, but the sun managed to peek out a few times.
Afterwards, I went to Target to pick up some new sheets and some condoms in preparation for the evening. I can't remember the last time I bought condoms. I haven't had a need for them in my house. I went by the grocery store to get a flower, some mile, and some more coffee. I threw a load of laundry in the washer and finished most of what I wanted to get done before Jean-Paul's arrival.
When I was driving out to DFW, I finally felt somewhat at ease and looked forward to his visit for the first time that day. His plane was slightly delayed, and the orange alert kept me from meeting him at the gate, but I paged him, and we finally met up. I was at a pay phone beginning to call him on his cell phone when he called my name. I turned around and was surprised to see that he looked exactly like a smaller version of my Uncle Bryan -- same eyes, same hair, same hairline.
We drove to my place to drop off his stuff and went to get him some dinner at Gloria's as he'd been on a plane most of the afternoon and evening. Afterwards, I drove him down Turtle Creek, around Uptown, and back home. We both took our meds and got ready for bed. After a little pillow talk, we got down to business. He had been right. The French definitely know how to kiss -- and other things as well.
