God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Service ... is love in action, love “made flesh”; service is the body, the incarnation of love. Love is the impetus, service the act, and creativity the result with many by-products. -- Sarah Patton Boyle, The Desegregated Heart

Service is the rent that you pay for room on this earth. -- Shirley Chisholm, first African-American woman to be elected to the United States Congress, as quoted in I Dream a World by Brian Lanker

After I completed what little work I could find to do yesterday, I ready everything possible on DallasNews.com, Yahoo! News, and Slate.com. At the end of the day, I heard Doug talking about the Fixed Asset internal audit to his boss, and it sounded as if they worked everything out in preparation for Friday.

I stopped by home before heading to Nate's house for our Rebellion Dogs study group meeting. We discussed Tradition Two and Tradition Three and feasted on Drumsticks.

By the time I got home at 9:30, I was so tired that I could barely keep my eyes open. I took my meds and went straight to bed. I had very vivid dreams but can remember none of them right now. I slept for over ten hours and discovered why when making coffee this morning. I drank nothing but decaf all day yesterday.

While sitting outside on my kitchen stoop this morning, it dawned on me that I need to begin doing more service work. All my recent actions have been centered around myself -- my finances, my love life, my sobriety, my goals. I need not be concerned about my motivations for doing the service work, but just do it. I also need to be willing to make mistakes along the way as did the men in the traditions we discussed last night.
