enjoyment
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
You never enjoy the world aright, till the sea itself floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens and crowned with the stars: and perceive yourself to be the sole heir of the whole world. -- Thomas Traherne, Centuries, “First Century”
I'm actually looking forward to going to work today. My knee feels much better, my hair is freshly coiffed, and I've got money in the bank. I like the guys with whom I'm working at Essilor. I think they think I'm straight. Ha! Plus, my boss Jeremy is cute as a button. Of course, he's probably at least ten years younger than me, but he does a very good job and is easy to respect. It's going to be enjoyable to actually do some financial analysis again after only reconciling accounts for the past year and a half.
I woke up later than I should have yesterday morning and didn't leave when I intended. I ran into a big wreck at Mockingbird which delayed me getting to work by about fifteen minutes; however, I plan to get there early today.
I learned and documented their procedures for running, printing, and distributing their financial statements and other costs and occupany reports yesterday. I began work on an automated workbook comparing certain expenses by lab. Regan began training me on what to do with SUNI and PUNI - Sales Units and Production Units before Oracle went down.
I left about 5:30 and went by StatScript to pick up some prescriptions and get a refill on Naproxen for my knee. I also scheduled an appointment for next week with Dr. Allen to get him to look at it and at the places on my lips.
I made it to the Living Sober with HIV AA meeting that Theo was chairing. I actually enjoyed the meeting even though I voted against its creation several months ago at the business meeting. One of our members was newly diagnosed as HIV+ and seemed somewhat distraught. Poor guy. He's a sweetheart, too. Many people had words of encouragement for him, but just as with alcoholism, he will have to experience a range of emotions and choices himself. There's no getting around it. Thankfully, it's no longer a death sentence. In fact, in many ways, it's helped me become more conscious of what it really means to be alive. I know it helped me get sober.
I went to Kevin's afterwards to get all my hair cut off. I got home shortly before nine o'clock and called and left a message for Jean-Paul from Atlanta in case he was in Dallas for his interview. I called my dad to ask him what I should do about my knee. I talked to Tom W a while before Dad called back, and then I went down to Walgreens to get this Thera-Gesic balm and some glucosamine to take with the MSM for my knee.
When sitting on my kitchen stoop this morning, I saw that one of wildflowers has begun to bloom. I believe it may be cosmos, but I'm not quite sure.
Anyway, time to get showered and get to work. Looking forward to it today.
