service

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace-
that where there is hatred, I may bring love-
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness-
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony-
that where there is error, I may bring truth-
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith-
that where there is despair, I may bring hope-
that where there are shadows, I may bring light-
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.

Lord, grant that I may seek rather
to comfort than to be comforted-
to understand than to be understood-
to love than to be loved.

For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

If I have been of service, if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action, if I am at peace with myself, it has been a successful day. -- Alex Noble, “In Touch with the Present”, Christian Science Monitor, March 6 1979

Well, unless things slow down, I guess I'm going to have to make do with blogging when I have the opportunity. On Sunday, I spent almost two hours blogging about the last two days. Hopefully, it will not take that long tonight.

By the time I finished blogging Sunday, I had just a few minutes to shower and dress before I was due at David's house to go to the lake. I was supposed to be at his house at 11 but walked out my front door at that time to find that my right front tire was flat. Nothing like a hot humid summer day in Dallas to change a flat tire. After much effort, I finally got the spare on and made it to his house just before noon. David was very nice about the whole thing, and I really enjoyed seeing his house and yard. We have very similar tastes.

Since I had a previous engagement later that afternoon, we had planned on me following him out to the lake in my car. I was concerned about driving that far on my spare so he offered to take me on his motorcycle. That was a blast riding behind him once I unclenched. I just sat back and felt the wind blow past me as we sped down the freeways. A very freeing experience if you've never tried it.

We arrived at Lake Grapevine near Sneaky Pete's and prepared the boat. We motored around a bit and then he pulled me on an inner tube behind the boat. That was fun, too, once I got the hang of it. He began doing S-curves causing me to jump the wake on either side. I did a few faceplants in the water, but all in all I had a blast. Later, we drove back to the dock to pick up his friend Ken. He waterskiied a bit, and then each of us took another turn at the tube.

We finally finished up and motored back to the dock. After we sped home on David's cycle, he offered me his shower to clean up for the party. David joined me in the shower and began getting a little frisky. I warned him not to get me too excited as I had to leave soon. We played a little bit, but then I got dressed and drove over to Theo's and Scott's for their cookout.

They had a pretty big crowd of some people I knew and some people I didn't. Most of the Rebellion Dogs were there, but Chuck and Bill had already left. I found Theo outside doing a great job of faking it at the grill. I met Theo's friends Craig and Dustin who were in town from New York for a film festival in Fort Worth. The previous night, the festival had presented a short film that Dustin had directed and in which Craig had acted. This fall Dustin will be directing a film based on Craig's screenplay and starring Craig, Malcolm Gets, Parker Posey, and Margot Kidder. It's due to be presented at the Sundance Film Festival in January of next year.

I began to fade at around eight o'clock or so, and I headed home. I felt like going dancing at TMC or the Round-Up, but the lake had drained me. Instead, I logged on to gay.com to chat. After saying hello to the regulars, I received a request for private chap from a most interesting Italian guy named Eeleam from Melbourne, Australia in the Muscle room. He is 31 years old, 6'3", runs a construction company, and is currently dating two women but looking to get into a relationship with a man. We chatted for a long time, and he eventually sent me some pics of himself. I wish he lived here as he is definitely my type. I asked him if he would like to be my Australian boyfriend as I jokingly said that I was working on having one in every country. He said yes, so with him and Joseph in Venezuela, that makes two. I hope the United States is not the last country in which I find a man.

I went to bed late and woke up later than usual Monday morning. I dropped off the flat by Discount Tire Store to be repaired and headed to work, but realized midway that I had left my security badge at home. I headed back to get it and arrived at work really, really late. The benefit of all this was that I was able to complete a full lesson on my new French tapes on the way. After a little while, Jeremy put me on a rush project for the CEO in preparation for the Network VPs meeting this week. That took the rest of the day and more, so even being late, I racked up nine hours yesterday.

Since I was still on my spare, I drove the long way to meet Mom and Dad for dinner at Chili's in Arlington. We had a good time, and I told them about my conversation with Kathy and that she had said hello. Dad made some comment that let me know that even after almost twenty years, he thinks that had Kathy not broken up with me for Derek, she and I would have been married, and I would not have turned out gay. Let it go, Dad, let it go.

Mom gave me some brownies and a garbage bag of my sweaters she had found cleaning out the closets, and we said goodnight. I took the long way home to Dallas down Division Street, Davis Street, and Fort Worth Avenue. I was pooped and headed to bed earlier than usual.

Today, I worked all day on finishing the rush project for Jeremy. I went to lunch at Subway and read the Morning News and the Observer. JP showed me some of his close procedures as he is leaving for St. Petersburg on Thursday for two weeks.

After work, I made it in time to the Discount Tire Store to pick up the flat they had repaired, and they offered to put it back on the car for me. The mechanic asked me who had put on the spare. After I informed him that I had, he informed me that I had put on the lugnuts backwards. I guess it was backwards day for me today as earlier today, I had rounded a corner at work and barged into the women's restroom instead of the men's. Anyway, the mechanic gave me my service slip and told me I was ready to go. When I informed him and the sales guy that I had not originally purchased the tire there, they still refused to take any payment for repairing the flat. That's what I call service. For anyone purchasing tires in the near future, I highly recommend that you buy them from a Discount Tire Store. I know I will.

I headed by StatScript to pick up some prescriptions and by Kroger for laundry quarters, Diet Dr. Pepper, and cleaning supplies. Now I am home looking at the wildflowers out my window and finishing my blog.

Time for dinner. Will write again soon.
