simplicity

God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Such simple things,
And we make of them something so complex it defeats us,
Almost. Why can’t everything be simple again?...
-- John Ashbery, “Business Personals”

Yesterday, I did as little as possible. My little brother Ross was playing golf with Dad so we didn't meet for breakfast. I slept in a bit. During the morning, I reviewed my budget to see where I could make adjustments to begin contributing to my 401k again and paying down my credit card debt. Then, I reallocated what I already have in my 401K.

I laid out for about an hour and a half. That felt good. The sun shown brightly but the weather was actually cool. I watched as two snow-white butterflies chased each other in my wildflower garden and read my meditation book.

I played Civilization III for a while, and then took a big nap. Tom W called so I went to meet several of the guys from my AA group down at Lucky's for dinner. Razzle Dazzle Dallas was going on down on Cedar Springs, so it was a bit difficult finding a parking place when I returned home.

That's it. Nothing productive, but there it is.
