travel

God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Far travel, very far travel, or travail, comes near to the worth of staying at home. -- Henry David Thoreau, Letter to Isaac Hecker, August 17, 1844

Yesterday morning, I was more than a little bit late for work at Essilor, but nobody seemed to mind. I had a difficult time leaving the house. I think I was still worn out from the day before. The great thing was that I got to leave just after two o'clock since they'd prefer I not work any overtime if possible.

I headed down to the AMC Grand and caught the 2:30 showing of the Matrix Reloaded. It wasn't until later that I made a connection between Merovingian's wife Persephone being replaced by a newer model in the same way the Oracle talked about obsolete programs being replaced. The Architect gave way too much information in too short a time for me to comprehend fully what he was saying. Nevertheless, it was very good, and I'll definitely see the next one in December.

I had to fight the urge to just take off to Austin or San Antonio this weekend. I just can't afford it right now. I did sit down and map a plan for a trip down there in a couple of weeks. I plan to stay at the Driskill Hotel in Austin and visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Hippie Hollow, and Oilcan Harry's. I may try to tube down the Guadalupe in New Braunfels. I'd like to stay at the Crockett Hotel in San Antonio and see the Alamo and the Riverwalk and go out to the Silver Dollar Saloon and the Bonham Exchange. I don't know if I'll get it all in, but I'm going to give it a try.

Afterwards, I planned out the trip to New England and Canada that I had hoped to make last summer. Unfortunately, my funds and schedule didn't allow it. This year, I hope to go to Boston, Provincetown, Maine, Quebec City, and Montreal. I think I can afford it by the end of July or August. We'll see.

I logged on to gay.com for a little while and ended up chatting some with Franco. It turns out he is the guy who did some work for my friend Brent, who is an interior designer. I'm going to go see Franco's artwork hanging at Parigi sometime this weekend and call him tomorrow.

That was it for yesterday. A pretty good day.
