adventure
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
The thirst for adventure is the vent which Destiny offers; a war, a crusade, a gold mine, a new country, speak to the imagination and offer swing and play to the confined powers. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Boston
What a roller-coaster couple of days! I was feeling blue on Monday and let my Cajun prince know. He happened to read my email five minutes after receiving a phone call from his alcoholic, abusive ex and blew up. My back continued to hurt most of the day, and I was running out of things to do at work, so I had little else to focus on.
Allen called before I got home to apologize for the first email he had sent in anger and had sent a second one to say he was sorry. After work, I went to get a massage from John who made my back feel so much better. I deleted Allen's first email unopened and unread. We talked later and both felt better.
Yesterday ended up being much busier and better at work. I ran down to Kroger at lunch to cash a check to deposit at the bank just to make sure everything clears before payday. Hate doing that but it ended up not being necessary anyway.
Returned Girl Michael's call regarding being nominated for treasurer of our AA group. Told her of my concerns and that I first needed to discuss this with my sponsor. Agreed to chair the Sunday six o'clock meetings in August.
Came home after work to find an email welcoming me to UTD and informing me that I had been admitted to the Non degree program in Political Economy. Hooray! I immediately wrote an email thanking Dan, Doug, and Tom for their letters of recommendation and informing them of my admission and also let Allen, Mom, Dad, Bart, and Ross know. Thanks Blaise for inspiring me to apply a couple of months ago with your questions about who we'd most like to meet and interview.
I drove down to Wilmer to go over Step Two with my sponsee Marcus. He's doing such a great job. It's so nice to have a sponsee who actually works the Steps.
I came home and spent an hour or so talking to Allen before he drives to New Orleans. He sounded very excited, and I'm so glad. This has about worn him out. I am SO ready for this week to be over and to finally meet him face to face.
Now, off to work!
