blue

God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

The blue we bathe in is the blue we breathe. The blue we breathe, I fear, is what we want from life and only find in fiction. For the voyeur, fiction is what’s called going all the way. -- William Gass, On Being Blue: A Philosophical Inquiry

My back feels a bit better this morning. I made some Cafe du Monde coffee and sat outside a bit looking at the wildflowers earlier. Some of the ferns and the Joseph's Coat climbing rose have just been eaten up by this Texas heat, I think. I'm sitting here blogging and listening to the CD I made last week for my dear sweet prince:

You Don’t Know Me Van Morrison & Shana Morrison
More Than I Can Bear Matt Bianco
I’m Not in Love Olive
Heal the Pain George Michael
Don’t Cry Seal
Put Your Head on My Shoulder Michael Bublé
When I Fall in Love, Celine Dion & Clive Griffin
Someone to Watch Over Me Linda Ronstadt
Just the Way You Are Billy Joel
Desafinado Astrud Gilberto & George Michael
Follow Your Bliss The B-52s
More Than Words Extreme
A Kiss to Build a Dream On Louis Armstrong
A Thousand Years Sting
I’ve Got to See You Again Norah Jones
The Prayer Charlotte Church & Josh Groban

I did close to nothing yesterday. I took a hot bath for my back and a big nap. Later in the evening, I finally got my ass up and went to Whole Foods Market to get some sea salt and restock on some other things.

Allen and I talked for about an hour and a half while I was defrosting the meat to make some picadillo. He is such a great guy, and I am so looking forward to meeting him in New Orleans this weekend; however, I feel somewhat sad or blue today. Perhaps it's because of my back, but I think it may be because the epinephrine rush of the past couple weeks is fading. It's like that first drink or high that we can never recapture. This feeling scares me. I hope I'm mature enough to not depend on the chemicals submitted by my neurotransmitters to make a wise decision about all this. I guess we'll just see.

Anyway, off to work.
