possibility
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
Oh, to blog again. I have so much to write and so little time to say it in. After thirty-eight years of living, I am finally in love. I never knew it could feel like this. I had about given up hope of finding my soulmate, and while it's yet to be determined whether or not I have found my life partner, I am definitely reassured of the possibility that he exists in this world.
It was two weeks ago tonight that I first said "Hey, cutie" to my dear sweet Cajun prince Allen in the POZ room of gay.com. Since then, we've chatted and emailed and talked on the phone for two to three hours ever since. He's everything I asked for and more in my message to the universe a couple of months ago.
Please send me a man who is a true equal in his desire to grow, learn, and evolve spiritually--a partner who is affectionate, compassionate, kind, honest, giving, spontaneous, and respectful, with complementary interests to share the journey. I want a person who desires me as much as I desire him. Please send me a man to whom I may devote myself and who will devote himself to You and to me.
We have discussed everything -- our coming out experiences, my alcoholism, addiction, and recovery, his sixteen-year abusive relationship with a practicing alcoholic, our careers, our spiritual evolution, our sexual positions and preferences, our likes, our dislikes, what we want in a relationship. It seems too good to be true, yet here it is.
We decided to meet on neutral territory in New Orleans next weekend. Last Saturday, I booked us a room at the Melrose Mansion which he was absolutely thrilled about when he found out. We know at least we're going to have dinner that first night at the Gumbo Shop and go hear the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Other than that, we'll take it as it comes and spend the weekend getting to know each other on an entirely different level.
Thank You God.
