balance
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
If a man lose his balance, and immerse himself in any trades or pleasures for their own sake, he may be a good wheel or pin, but he is not a cultivated man. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Prudence,” Essays, First Series
Mental health depends upon the maintenance of a balance within the personality between the basic human urges and egocentric wishes on the one hand and the demands of conscience and society on the other hand. -- Selma H. Fraiberg, The Magic Years
Unfortunately, the balance of nature decrees that a super-abundance of dreams is paid for by a growing potential for nightmares. -- Peter Ustinov, Independent, London, February 25, 1989
Yesterday felt like having a hangover not from alcohol, but and emotional or sensory hangover. I felt so good all day on Saturday and the right frame of mind. I met with my sponsee Charlie and then came home and started looking for my auto insurance certificate so I could get my car inspected. After a while I sat down on the computer and logged on to gay.com and m4m4sex.com. I eventually took a nap at about five o'clock and talked to Michael afterwards and went over to his place to meet him. We sat around for a couple of hours and had a really good talk. When I left, I decided to go to Midtowne Spa. I had fun that night but got little sleep and felt buzzed all day yesterday. I was just a slug and could not or would not concentrate on anything. I slept a little bit during the day, made an Apple, Pear, and Cranberry Cobbler, watched The Six Wives of Henry VIII on PBS, and smoked a lot. This morning, I just feel sluggish and angry at myself for not getting much accomplished this weekend. I'm back in that doing mode instead of being. God, please help me find some balance.
