being

God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

The domain of doing is that aspect of lives that involves all of our activities and efforts while the domain of being is our experience of these activities and efforts. Within the domain of being is where our true self lies untouched by our physical ailments. It is here, in the deep ocean of the domain of being, that true healing begins. -- Jeremy Geffen, MD, Being and Doing in the Practice of Medicine: Embracing the Deeper Dimensions of Healing

For me, being and doing are complementary and come out of the same spirit, the same universal presence. At the ultimate level consciousness is spacious, vast, luminous, completely free. Out of this ground of being everything arises: material reality, thought, emotion, activity. -- John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga, Yoga Journal July/August 2002

This was the best week I've had in a long time. Somehow I was able to suspend the impending doom feeling and just deal with things as they came. We got everything done for month-end close. We had a good Step Study on Thursday night at Nate's house. Last night, I came home, washed a bunch of dishes, tried a new recipe for meatloaf, chatted for a while with Michael who I had met online this summer before Allen, and talked to my friend Tom a while. This morning, I paid some bills, went to breakfast with Rossdog at Lucky's, ran a couple of errands with him, went by Starbucks for a vanilla latte, collected the money at Lambda, went to the men's AA meeting on meditation at Lambda, and went with some of the guys to the Market Diner afterwards. I just have this sense that everything's is okay and going to be okay. I finally have a sense of being after many months of focusing on doing and not getting everything done. Thank You God.
