keeping my cool
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
Cool, and quite English, imperturbable. -- George Gordon Noel Byron, Don Juan
One cool judgment is worth a thousand hasty counsels. The thing to do is to supply light and not heat. -- Woodrow Wilson, Speech, January 29, 1916, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Gods cool in turn, by the sun long outlasted. -- William Empson, To an Old Lady
As I suspected, my mortgage broker called yesterday and issued a challenge for me to up the balance in my checking account. He said that he hadn't included the condo dues in his initial calculations, and now the underwriters wanted more reserves. I told him that I didn't know whether or not that was doable. I was little flustered and angry about the whole thing so I emailed my Realtor David to vent. Thank goodness, he was calm, cool, and collected and made several good suggestions.
Yesterday was a good day at work. We got several days into December billings, and I really like the women with whom I'm working. I received and deposited a check from my friend and my paycheck was deposited. I went to the six o'clock meeting on the First Step and then to dinner at the Black-Eyed Pea with Bradley and a newcomer Rick.
Last night, I talked to my Realtor David a few times. He's already talked to a guy at another lender with whom they often do business. At his suggestion, I emailed Bill last night and called him this morning but may seek financing with this other lender. It'll work out if it works out. We'll see.
I just got off the phone with my sponsor Charlie. We talked about the mortgage deal and about my dating and relationships. I told him how I'm enjoying dating so much more now that I'm not expecting it to lead anywhere. I also told him about how I became uneasy this week about being "the other woman" of one of the guys I've been seeing. We talked about it, and I finally realized it was jealousy. I don't like that the boyfriend is coming into town this weekend and taking my time. I really like Charlie, and he keeps telling me to do what I want to do and to forget about the reasons. I like that.
Today, it's snowing in Dallas. Very beautiful.
