love and service
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
A name pronounced is the recognition of the individual to whom it belongs. He who can pronounce my name aright, he can call me, and is entitled to my love and service. -- Henry David Thoreau, A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers
Service ... is love in action, love “made flesh”; service is the body, the incarnation of love. Love is the impetus, service the act, and creativity the result with many by-products. -- Sarah Patton Boyle, The Desegregated Heart
The trouble is that rich people, well-to-do people, very often don’t really know who the poor are; and that is why we can forgive them, for knowledge can only lead to love, and love to service. And so, if they are not touched by them, it’s because they do not know them. -- Mother Teresa, “Riches,” A Gift for God
It has been a busy, busy week since I last blogged. All the paperwork is in for my mortgage application and the contract. The Seller agreed to repair all items on our list from the inspector, and the contractor was there Monday and Tuesday to complete them. The appraisal was completed Monday, so I think we're about ready to go on all that.
On Wednesday night, the Rebellion Dawgs met at Theo's house, and then I came home to make some chicken dumpling soup for Laura at work. Thursday, they issued a new policy that we would do our bench time at home, so that's been nice in a way except it's getting a little boring now. On Friday night, I had a midnight visit from a guy finishing up a play in Uptown.
Saturday, I had breakfast with Rossdog at Lucky's and then went to the men's AA meeting. I just hung out on Saturday afternoon and took a nap. That night, Tony and I went to see Monster at the Magnolia. Charlize was great, but the movie disturbed Tony a bit. We spent the night at his house and had a really nice time. I love snuggling up against him and just talking.
Sunday, I obsessed over the design of my new condo. Chadwick called from New York, so it was great catching up with him. I finished my laundry and met my sponsee Charlie at Starbucks to complete his Third Step. Afterwards, I went over and spent the evening with a couple I'd met online in North Dallas. We played and got into the hot tub a couple of times which was really nice. I definitely had a fun time with them and hope to see them again soon.
Monday, I was dragging most of the day -- not tired, just lethargic. I think the boredom was beginning to get to me. I finally got around to finishing my homework for class and drove out to UTD. Class was fine, and I had a couple fo good conversations with my professor during the breaks when we were outside smoking. Yesterday, I talked to a couple of interior designers. I've really got to stop obsessing about redoing the condo even before I close on it. Last night, I went to the six which Chris led on love and service. Afterwards, I went by Blockbuster to get the Pirates of the Caribbean DVD and drove over to Dean's to watch it and eat Chinese food. I showed him the layout of my new place and everything I'd picked out.
I always have a fun time with him, too, and he's a great kisser.
Today, I'm doing nothing but finally blogging. I emailed Rossdog a couple of times trying to answer his questions about my numerologist whom he's seeing for the first time today. Later, I'll meet with Dan and Theo at least for dinner. That's all for now. Hope they put me to work soon 'cause baby needs a new condo and a cell phone.
