vision
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
At last a vision has been vouchsafed to us of our life as a whole. We see the bad with the good.... With this vision we approach new affairs. Our duty is to cleanse, to reconsider, to restore, to correct the evil without impairing the good, to purify and humanize every process of our common life, without weakening or sentimentalizing it. -- Woodrow Wilson, First inaugural address, March 3, 1913
The individual whose vision encompasses the whole world often feels nowhere so hedged in and out of touch with his surroundings as in his native land. -- Emma Goldman, “The Individual, Society and the State”
Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart…. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. -- Carl Jung, To patient in Cambridge MA, quoted in Gerhard Adler ed Letters Vol I Princeton 1973
I'm beginning to get used to this having my days free. Yesterday, I finished cleaning my kitchen except for the floors which I'll mop tomorrow. I finished folding and hanging all the laundry and began making a dent in the stack of crap I pulled out when I was finding all the documents necessary for my mortgage application. I figured out how to work my new cell phone and emailed the number to the people at work. Around three, I went to Hunky's for a hickory cheeseburger and fried zucchini again, read the paper, then took my extra hangers to my cleaners, and went to the grocery store. I need to do some more cooking this weekend.
I talked to Laura in the Galleria office who would like me to accompany her on a client visit on Monday and to Jim in the Downtown office who may be sending me back out to the client from Hurst this week. I made an appointment with one of the prospective interior designers for Tuesday and received an email reply from the professor to whom my statistics professor encouraged me to discuss my enrollment in one of the advanced degree programs.
I went by Starbucks for a White Chocolate Mocha and then on to the six o'clock AA meeting which Joe led on "A Vision for You" and change. It began to get really cold after the meeting. I came back home and made the most delicious Brown Sugar Meatloaf and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Mmmm! I'm taking some of the leftoevers to Rossdog this morning along with our peanut butter.
Around ten, I dressed and walked down to the Round-Up. I was more than a little nervous as it's been several months since I've been out, particularly by myself. Fortunately, Gib from my group came up to me just after I got a bottled water from the bar and had settled at the rail near the dance floor. He invited me over to his group of friends, and we danced and danced and danced. I had a blast! I miss going there. I want to go more often, and I had this weird idea last night of inviting Jennifer to come with me sometime. We'll see about that.
I came back home about midnight and logged online for a while, but not many people I knew were there. I fell right asleep and had a good rest. Those are the kind of days I like. Thank You God!
