vulnerable
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
Presumption is our natural and original malady. The most vulnerable and frail of all creatures is man, and at the same time the most arrogant. -- Michel de Montaigne, “Apology For Raymond Sebond,” The Essays
Love is not love until love’s vulnerable.
She slowed to sigh, in that long interval.
-- Theodore Roethke, The Dream
So vulnerable.
She is already trampled, that one,
having traveled so far from the heart.
She weighs so little.
She is so light and vulnerable.
She is the dead bee called love.
-- Anne Sexton, “Letters to Dr. Y.....”
Yesterday, my lender informed me that I'm 100% approved; however, they've not yet heard from the appraiser so they're going to send another one out today.
I burned through at least thirty or forty ambulance billings yesterday at work. We're in late December now. Leslie from Accountemps emailed and asked if I was still going to be out there through March 5, so I may be at the City of Hurst longer than I expected.
After working late, I stopped by Starbucks for a vanilla latte and caught the last half of the six o'clock AA meeting which Chris led on acceptance. I saw Dr. Tom and my old mortgage broker Bill among others. It wasn't so bad with Bill. We were both cordial and friendly. I don't know what he's thinking and don't need to. We don't get into other people's heads, as my first sponsor Wilson would tell me. Unfortunately, I don't believe the closing would have happened had I stayed with Bill.
After work, I completed the Pre-Home Ownership Education Course required as part of my loan. It was actually good. I watched Judging Amy and was struck by what happened at the end between Amy and her boyfriend. There was something about her smile when he was honest with her about telling only one woman about his wife's murder. He said that they were nowhere near that, and she hugged and kissed him. I cried. What can I say? I'm a sap.
