busy

God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

Busy hands are never in want. -- Chinese proverb

O Lord! thou knowest how busy I must be this day: if I forget thee, do not thou forget me. -- Sir Astley Jacob, British Royalist soldier, said before the Battle of Edgehill, October 23, 1642, in the English Civil War

People are so busy dreaming the American Dream, fantasizing about what they could be or have a right to be, that they’re all asleep at the switch. Consequently we are living in the Age of Human Error. -- Florence King, “The Age of Human Error,” Reflections in a Jaundiced Eye

Another Monday. I am in a slump. I feel irritable, restless, and discontent and don't know why. On Friday night, I deposited my checks and then just came home from work and went straight to bed. On Saturday morning, I met Rossdog for our last weekly breakfast together at Lucky's. Karen, his old boss from Levi's joined us, and it was good to see her again. I went by Starbucks for a Vanilla Latte and then on to the Men's AA meeting at Lambda which Mike led on avoiding boredom at meetings. I came back home to get my backpack and the moving blankets for Uncle Hal and then drove out to UTD. My study group wasn't there, so I went into the computer lab to work on tonight's homework. I finished most of it and left at about one o'clock and Dee and Bruce were sitting outside in their regular spot. We talked a bit, and then I headed out to my car. I called Uncle Hal to see where we were going to meet, but he was busy signing the paperwork to sell his house, so I drove out to Robb & Stucky and Stonebriar Centre mall to look around. I found a great leather chair at Robb & Stucky and like the stuff at Z Gallerie. I filled up with gas at CITGO and was ordering lunch at Whataburger when Uncle Hal called to invite me over to his house. After lunch, I went over. I gave him the moving blankets, and he showed me all the improvements he had made to the house. We sat and visited for a while until his old neighbor Lenore came over. I then went to Wal-Mart to buy a computer cart and task chair and swung by Gabbert's to look around before they closed.

At home, I put together the task chair. I began putting together the computer cart but thought I needed a different type of Phillips screwdriver, so I headed up to Home Depot. While I was there, I picked up a quart of yellow paint to test in the kitchen. I didn't know they had to mix it. When I returned home, I finished putting the computer cart together. Thank God I don't have to sit on the floor anymore to use the computer.

Yesterday morning, I went through and picked out inspiration rooms I liked from the HGTV show Sensible Chic. I dressed and drove out to Mimi's Cafe in Grapevine to celebrate the fifth anniversary of my sister-in-law Jennifer's thirtieth birthday. I stopped by Grapevine Mills mall, a dinette outlet, and Circa consignment store on my way home and dropped some more things off at the women's shelter. Then, I just rested for the rest of the day and watched the final episode of <i>Trading Spaces Home Free and tested my yellow paint -- too light and bright. I took a couple of naps and fell asleep around midnight.

This morning I awoke from a dreaming about ClubCorp, my days in the American Association of University Students, and my friend Kevin from Rice in that organization. I've got to finish my homework today, but now on to work. It's the first day for our new controller, so I better get a move on.
