gratitude
God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.
Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.
Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.
A single thankful thought towards heaven is the most perfect of all prayers. -- Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, Minna von Barnhelm, act 2, sc. 7
I am thankful for small mercies. I compared notes with one of my friends who expects everything of the universe, and is disappointed when anything is less than best, and I found that I begin at the other extreme, expecting nothing, and am always full of thanks for moderate goods. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Experience,” Essays, Second Series
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. -- Marcel Proust, “Regrets, Reveries, Changing Skies,” no. 12, Pleasures and Regrets
I've awoken feeling relatively better the past couple of days. That does wonders for my mood. Yesterday was a good day. I've made progress on the reconciliations at work. Eric called and he's following up on the referral bonuses I've earned. I went to dinner with Mom and Dad at the Olive Garden last night and then chaired the eight o'clock AA meeting at Lambda on humility. I'm just thankful to have more energy again. Thanks God.
