adventure

God, I offer myself to Thee to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self that I may better do Thy Will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of Life. May I do Thy Will always.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would always be with me, and that You would keep me from evil.

Thank You for keeping me sober today. Amen.

An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered. -- Gilbert Keith Chesterton, All Things Considered

Adventure is making the distant approach nearer
but romance is having what is where it is which is not
where you are stay where it is.

-- Gertrude Stein, “An American and France,” What Are Masterpieces

Life is a fatal adventure. It can only have one end. So why not make it as far-ranging and free as possible? -- Alexander Eliot, New York Post, November 28, 1962

Yesterday was quite a good day. I was dragging by mid-afternoon because I couldn't fall asleep Monday night. I finished the A/R agings and began work again on the recons. Uggh! Those will put anyone to sleep.

After work, I went to the six o'clock AA meeting that Nathan chaired on self-will. I left a little early to meet Mom and Dad for dinner at Chili's in Arlington. We went to Barnes & Noble afterwards for dessert and so Dad could hear. I came back home to call Tim and give him Dan's number in DC. I called my niece Hailee to express my condolences on her broken arm, and I returned my brother Ross' call. He and some friends went to see Much Ado About Nothing in Central Park starring Kristen Johnson from Third Rock from the Sun. He said that she and the play were great. He's still enjoying the acting conservatory, and they're still learning about breathing and movement among other things. He was offered a full-time programming manager job at MTV but turned it down because he's looking for contract work.

Anyway, that's it for today. Onward and upward.
